The Vishwa Hindu Parishad has announced a grand ‘Hindu Conference’ in New Delhi on March 1 to rake up issues like conversion and ghar wapsi, among others. Top VHP leadership and some religious leaders are expected to take part.
The VHP’s event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will coincide with the Budget session that is set to discuss several key ordinances promulgated by the government to bring the country back on high growth trajectory.
The government failed to pass some related bills during the winter session after proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were washed out following controversies over the RSS-sponsored ghar wapsi programme and provocative statements by some BJP leaders.
“Just because some vested elements do not like it, should we stop our organisational activities? It is purely an event to discuss socio-economic challenges faced by the Hindu society,” VHP’s joint general secretary Surendra Jain said.
The event is part of six mega rallies that the VHP planned across the country as part of its golden jubilee celebration. Over 700 small rallies are also planned that will carry on till April.
