Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Ashok Singhal today said that the organisation would work towards defeating the UPA government and ensure a new government led by BJP is voted to power in the Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing reporters here today, he said BJP is the only party, which supports issues of Hindu and is concerned about terrorism, religious conversion and related issues.
"In its manifesto, BJP has included our demands and issues and demonstrated that its the only party which can redeem the lost honour of Hindu society," he said, adding that, in the last 60 years, Congress has been relentlessly pursuing the policy to insult Hindus.
Singhal brushed aside reports of differences between VHP and Gujarat BJP and blamed media for projecting it in this manner.
"Me and Narendra Modi are friends but you people try to portray us as enemies," he told reporters.
When asked about 200-odd temples demolished by the authorities in state capital Gandhinagar, Singhal retorted and said, "Look at the situation in Bihar and UP."
"I had spoken to Chief Minister Narendra Modi about the issue. He assured me that he would give land to build the temples elsewhere."
