Adequate supply of essential commodities has been made available for tribal district Kinnaur, said food and civil supplies minister GS Bali while presiding over a review meeting of public distribution system for Kinnaur on Saturday.

“Surplus supply is being sent to various parts of the district so that people do not suffer due to shortage of food,” Bali said.

“Essential commodities such as sugar, three subsidised pulses, salt, mustard oil, flour and rice have been made available through 56 fair-price shops in the district,” he said, adding that supply was not possible in about five fair-price shops which would be ensured as soon as the roads were opened for vehicular traffic.

The minister said adequate supply of food grains was also available in Reckong Peo, Tapri and Bhawanagar godowns and LPG re-fills would soon be supplied to Tapri and thereafter to Reckong Peo through transshipment.

Bali said 5,000-litre kerosene oil, 80-quintal flour, 10-quintal salt and 40-quintal rice had been supplied to Rampur for further distribution to various parts of the district through helicopters.
