The people of Jammu and Kashmir voted against separatists and terrorists in the assembly elections which was a victory for democracy, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Monday.
"It is not important which party won and which party will form the government there. More important is that the people there have voted against separatists, terrorists and forces of destabilisation," Mukherjee told reporters here.
"People in Jammu and Kashmir voted in large numbers and have proved beyond doubt that it is a victory for democratic forces," he said.
"It is the victory of democratic forces and the forces of secularism, and it is a matter of great pride and happiness," the External Affairs minister said.
He was speaking on the sidelines of a programme to lay the foundation of an eco-village at Lalbagh.
