A FOREST Department guard has alleged he has been reverted to the post of watchman by certain corrupt officials whom he had exposed of providing patronage to illegal mining in connivance with some politically connected persons.

The complainant, Dhanendra Pratap Khare, told media persons here today that a forest guard Nathuram Sahu had complained to the department about illegal mining in Joranbeet and Sarsed areas under the Chhattarpur forest division in 2005. Sahu had informed the department that one Brijesh Singh Bundela was involved in illegal mining.

However, when Chhattarpur ranger K B Gupta and forester Shivpal Singh Bundela learnt about the complaint, they stopped Nathuram’s pay from October 2005 to December 2005 and even gave adverse comments about Nathuram that denied him promotion to the post of forester, alleged Khare.

Khare added when he took up Sahu’s case even he was not spared and was also reverted to the post of watchman. The corrupt officials in connivance with politically influential persons tried to raise a question mark on the validity of the `van karmachari suraksha evam paryavaran sudhar sangathan’ of which he is the State president, Khare charged.

Khare claimed he had been promoted to the post of forest guard on the directions of forest department additional secretary in 2003 in compliance of an order by the State High Court Jabalpur.

He demanded he be promoted again and an inquiry conducted into the matter of illegal mining in the area and the role of some forest department officials in providing patronage to those indulging in it.
