VIJETHA XI, YUSUF XI, Khanna Sports and 9th Mile have entered the last four in the Agniban Trophy tennis ball cricket tournament played at Usha Raje cricket grounds on Thursday night.
In the first quarterfinal, Vijetha XI (Hatpipliya) beat Navottam XI. Batting first, Vijetha XI scored 89/7 in the allotted 10 overs. Dilip batted well to score 22, while Abhay took three wickets for Navottam XI
In reply, Navottam batsmen failed to read the accurate bowling of Feroz and Dilip. They managed to score just 39 runs losing all the wickets.
Feroz bowled well to capture four wickets, while Dilip took three wickets. In the second quarterfinal, Yusuf XI (Bhopal) defeated Janvi XI, Dewas to sail into the last four.
Batting first, Yusuf XI scored 65/7. Sushil bowled well to capture five wickets to restrict Yusuf XI from big score. In reply, Dewas batsmen failed to stick at the middle of the wicket and were losing the wickets at regular intervals. They lost the match by eight runs.
In the pre-quarterfinal played between Ram Bagh XI and Pitampur XI, Ram Bagh XI beat their opponents by eight wickets to sail into the last eight.
One of the upsets in the tournament was Madan XI losing to 9th Mile without giving any fight. Batting first, 9th Mile XI scored 86/5 in the allotted 10 overs. Nazir batted well to score 24, while Rnji player Jitendra Likhar took two wickets.
In reply, Madan XI failed to stay at the wicket and were returning to pavilion at regular intervals. In spite of having four Ranji players—Sunil Dholpure, Rishi Yengde, Jitendra Likhar and Brajesh Tomar—they failed to rise to the occasion and played miserably to lose the match.
Brajesh Tomar was called from Bhopal to assist Madan XI but he too failed to help his team to enter last four. Madan XI managed to score just 53 in 10 overs. Heera Yadav and Denny bowled well to capture three wickets to help their team to sail into last four.
