Ville Parle cops held theatre manager for negligence

Around 350 public were present there in the cinema hall when the incident happened, reports Krati Khujneri.

Ville Parle police arrested the manager and supervisor of Sun City cinema located at Ville Parle (east) for their negligence on Sunday night.

According to the police, the crowd was enjoying the movie in 4th and 5th multiplex hall of the theatre when suddenly the lights went off during the night show from 9 to 12. Around 350 public were present there in cinema hall and the incident happened at 10:45 pm.
 
When electricity failed, the public hooted. It was a complete blackout on the fourth and fifth floors as it was difficult for the people to make out what is happening. 
 
“There was no proper arrangement for the emergency. The eyewitness say that it was all-dark there, we were all confused and agitated and there was no back up supply of generator. Not even a torch was available at that very moment,” 
 
“There was a call from control room and were informed that people in suncity cinema are in trouble. There was no electricity. Many families with there children were in problem.

"It was all crowded and the situation was uncontrollable. It was around 11:30pm we went to the cinema hall and helped the public to get out of the exertion," said Sudhakar Pujari CI, Crime, Ville Parle police station. 
 
Keeping the incident of Delhi Upahar cinema in mind, in which many people died of spark, happened because of the mismanagements and mishandling of the cinema, the two manager Arvind Narottamdas and supervisor Sudhir Sharma of Sun City cinema were arrested. The Ville Parle police filed the case.
 
The manager and supervisor were summoned by the Andheri court on Monday. The court fined them on 5000/- rupees, as it was a bailable offence.
