Six days after a youth went missing here leading to violent protests, his throat-slit body was recovered on Wednesday, official sources said.

Asrar Mushtaq Dar, a 2nd year student of Islamia College hailing from Maisuma locality, went missing on July 3 when the area witnessed a violent clash between police and stone- pelting mobs.

Police recovered the throat-slit body of the youth at Malkhah-Sheikh colony falling under Rainawari police station on Wednesday, the sources said.

Police had filed a missing report in this connection.

As the news of recovery of the body of the missing youth reached Maisuma, people came on roads wailing and beating their chests.

Shopkeepers downed their shutters as youths enforced a strike in the locality and adjoining areas.
