A video of a principal allegedly thrashing a student of Bengaluru’s Industrial Training Institute for not bringing his notes to class has gone viral after it was beamed on television channels.

A student, witness to the incident inside a classroom, filmed the clip with his smartphone.

"We don’t need a principal like this. You can see the video of how he tortures students. This has been happening for the past 13 years. Students have never reported the principal to the authorities as they want their futures to be safe," the student who made the video told Headlines Today on Friday.

“He beats us up for reasons like not bringing books, for not cleaning shoes, for not ironing our clothes. He just needs a silly reason,” he added.

The news channels reported that the college, part of a trust, is run by an MLA.

The students had not filed a complaint with police so far because they were afraid of repercussions. They have now decided to approach the police and the human rights commission, PTI reported.

The principal could not be reached for comments.
