When Virender Sehwag came out to bat on Friday, the main risk was him getting run out. He was spotted with cotton buds in his ears during practice, and is said to have suffered a partial loss of hearing in his left ear. Hence, it was his calling between the wickets with his batting partner which was put to test.

The way he ran his runs and the understanding he showed with opening partner Gautam Gambhir in the brief time they were at the crease, would have calmed the nerves in the dressing room that the hearing ailment will not affect the Delhi dasher's game.

The Indian star has been diagnosed with 'sensorineural' hearing loss. Apparently, Sehwag was exposed to a loud noise at the NCA, Bangalore last month while undergoing rehab.
