Vivaha 2006, the largest wedding exhibition of the country, kicked off on Friday at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. As the name suggests, the venue was exquisitely decorated and looked like a snap shot of a lavish Indian wedding.
"The wedding scene has tremendously changed in India. People now choose to spend extravagantly on wedding decorations and want the wedding to be a grand affair," says Tarun Sarda, CEO, Vivaha Interactives and the man behind the event.
"Many of them are also opting for customised wedding solutions, be it outfits, jewellery or even the honeymoon packages. And Vivaha is the only event that brings all of this under one roof," adds Sarda.
Many top designers of India have also participated in the event. Trousseau expert Renu Dadlani, who's known for her intricately embroidered bridal finery, says, "I always use georgette for the bridal trousseau as it looks good on everyone and in every season. As far as colours are concerned, this wedding season, red will be the eternal favourite, besides pink and earthy hues.
