The issue came up for discussion soon after the passing of the supplementary budget in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday. BJP member Hukum Singh said even though the House had passed the budget, nothing could be done in the wake of court stay on the allocation of the budget to the respective departments.

It may be recalled that the high court had ordered to stop allocation of budget till mafiosi were removed from the system.

The Speaker said the issue was very serious and he would soon convene an all-party meeting to find an amicable solution to the problem.

CM Mulayam Singh Yadav said the issue involved legalities and could go to the extent of a direct confrontation between the Government and the judiciary. He underlined the need for a cautious approach after considering all legal aspects.

Yadav said a large number of Government officials got stay on their transfer and suspension and this issue should also be discussed in detail at the all-party meet.
