All apprehensions about how the re-laid Wankhede wicket would behave were allayed with the Sunday contest throwing up more than 600 runs.
The wicket assisted the new ball bowlers in the first one hour, before turning into a belter.
"The wicket and the stadium have been fantastic. There was something for the bowlers in the first hour, but then the wicket eased out," said Brendon McCullum, who scored 101 against Canada.
The outfield, however, will need some more work, as there are some bumpy patches on the fence on both sides of the sightscreens.
