In a move bound to cause discomfiture to the Congress, the YSR Congress party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Saturday said Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is a good administrator, who should change the BJP into a secular party.

“If somebody wins Gujarat thrice, do you not think he is a good administrator? People of our generation want peace and development. I want every party to become secular. I want Modi to change the BJP and come on a secular platform,” he said in an interview to the CNN IBN.

Asked if Modi agreed to come on a secular platform, would he support him, Reddy replied: “Forget about me...even you, everybody will think.”

“We do not want Muzaffarnagar, we want Mohabatnagar....We want BJP to change...reach out to Muslims and Christians everyone. Since BJP has a stigma they will have to put in more efforts,” he said.

He charged the UPA government with trying to split Andhra Pradesh “undemocratically” and also challenged the Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu to give in writing that he was opposed to the bifurcation of the state.
