Grey is the ‘colour of the moment’ in the international celebrity circuit. Singer Lady Gaga, all of 24, and model Kristen McMenamy (45) have sported grey hair on the recent magazine covers of Vanity Fair and Vogue respectively. Recently, Kate Moss and Victoria Beckham both 36-year-old, added grey streaks to their locks.
Debate over grey matter
Back home, desi celebs are skeptical about the look. “Though it’s becoming a popular style statement abroad, people in India would not dare it,” shares beauty expert Komal Gulati.
“The platinum white hair colour wouldn’t suit the Indian skin tone. Moreover, it’s very tough to change your hair colour from black to grey,” says beauty expert Ambika Pillai. Socialite Ayesha Thapar gives this trend a pass.Indian complexion seems to be a major deterrent in trying the new trend. "Lady Gaga has a porcelain complexion that goes well with such hair trends. But it won’t suit us," says model Joey Matthews. Socialite Timsy Anand supports the trend, "I would love to sport my hair grey."
Who dare, wins
Internationally, Dior and Chanel put grey streaks in their model’s hair in the S/S 10 collections. Models in India still have their reservations. “I can’t try grey as my hair colour,” says model Amanpreet Wahi.
“I might want to try it for few days. I can’t keep it for too long, or else I will run out of work,” says model and actress Gauhar Khan.
There are those, who will only experiment for popular magazines, “I will only risk my hair if it’s a cover shoot for renowned magazines,” says model Montu Tomar.

Make up guide
Lips: Use rose, red, apricot or peach, but avoid brown shades. Brown looks too muddy and dull with your grey hair.
Eyes: The classic dark eyes or smokey eye makeup looks great with grey hair. Use lot of mascara and Kajal to add volume and drama to your eyes.
Blush: You can use some rose powder or peach colour as a blush to enhance your cheeks.
