Delhi Police on Friday gunned down wanted gangster Diwan, alias Lala, implicated in 46 cases, including murder, extortion, rape and loot.
The gunfight took place in northwest Delhi's Mongolpuri area.
Police said they had been on the trail of the gangster for a long time. On Thursday, two accomplices of Diwan were arrested and tipped off officials about his movements in the capital.
"We have recovered a pistol and some live cartridges from Diwan. He was taken to Sanjay Gandhi hospital where he was declared brought dead," said Karnail Singh, joint commissioner of police, Special Cell.
