What's your idea of God?
He is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe. Somebody who is more powerful than human beings. Whenever I am low and things are not working for me, I just pray to god and my problems get sorted out.

Do you make a distinction between religion and spirituality?
Yes. Religion is the "absolute truth of life" in the physical manifested world. It is the basis of our society. Spirituality, however, can refer to an ultimate reality or transcendent dimensions of the world, an inner path enabling a person to discover their being. But I believe in humanity.

Do you feel that something/someone keeps you protected?
Yes certainly I do, I feel that whenever I am disconcerted, God is with me; he protects me. I believe that faith in God plays out in everyday life.

How do you practice spirituality at work and in your personal life?
I believe in being humane, respecting people and being humble. Working in Hurt Locker and playing a role of James who is heroic in nature, made me understand a new philosophy in life. It is such a good feeling — being selfless.

Do you have a special 'God moment'?
My nomination for the Oscars was a special gift from God. I am thankful to him for being there and loving me like a child and supporting me.

Define 'happiness'.
In literary terms, happiness is a state of mind. One should never direct people towards happiness, because happiness, too, is an idol of the market-place. One should direct them towards mutual affection.

Do you have a mind talisman? What gets your mind refreshed and unburdened?
I love being at home and spending some quality time with my family. If I am alone, I feel the best thing is talking to yourself (laughs). It really revitalises me; I can understand myself better. And I also love watching movies. My favourite is Braveheart, it's a gorgeous movie and I have seen it 35 times.

What's your take on world peace and how do you suggest we get there?
After doing a war movie, The Hurt Locker, yeah man...it's on my mind. Life is too short, we should live in harmony and start respecting each other.
