The Sukhna land scam, which has greatly embarrassed the top army brass, has its origin in intra-service rivalry among some high-ranking generals.
The army headquarters is wondering how confidential information was leaked to the media when there is no scam. No money has changed hands and the land in question does not come under the purview of the army.
Secondly, why was this so-called scam made public six months after the matter had been closed?
The question being asked is whether it has something to do with the announcement to make Lt. General P.K. Rath the deputy chief of staff or whether it has something to do with someone who is in line to take over as General Deepak Kapoor’s successor in April this year.
A lot of skeletons are going to come out in the next few days.
