Accused of killing his teenaged daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj, dentist Rajesh Talwar on Monday told a CBI court that he was not aware of what happened in his daughter's room on the night of crime as he was fast asleep.

Deposing as a CBI witness, an Airtel executive had earlier told the court that internet activity was recorded on May 15, 2008, which contradicted Talwar's claim that he was asleep.

Talwar and his wife Nupur, also a dentist, are accused in the sensational double-murder case that remains unsolved even after five years.

The trial is at its fag end. The court has already recorded the statements of 39 prosecution witnesses and after the statement of accused, it will record defence evidence and hear final arguments before reserving its judgment.

Recording his statement before special judge S Lal, Talwar refuted the CBI charge that internet activity from his room indicated he was awake on the fateful night.

With Monday's proceedings, Talwar has answered 411 questions put to him by the court. Upset with repeated adjournments sought by Talwars, Lal had threatened to cancel the couple's bail, if they failed to record their statement.

Fourteen-year old Aarushi was killed at the Talwars' Noida residence on May 15, 2008. Hemraj's body was found on the terrace a day later. Nupur is yet to record her statement as accused.

Mediapersons are not allowed to attend the proceedings but Talwars' lawyer Manoj Sisodia told reporters that the judge asked his client about internet activity. Talwar told the court he was asleep after 11.30-11.35 pm and did not use internet, Sisodia said.
