BHAWAN SINGH RAWAT is the RLD candidate for the mayoral post. HT: What is you vision for Lucknow?

BR: A clean and beautiful city.

HT: What are the major problems of the city?

BS: Water scarcity and garbage disposal are the major problems that have dogged the city.

HT: How do you assess the performance of the previous political regime in the city?

BS: The previous mayor has not taken any initiative to develop the city.

HT: Do you think there has been a balanced development in the city?

BS: No, not at all. Money has been spent only on posh areas at the cost of the poor.

HT: Which are the priority areas for you?

BS: Clean drinking water and cleaning garbage at night so that people have a fresh and garbage-free morning.

HT: What is the solution to illegal construction?

BS: It is basically the problem of the development authorities. We will make an effort to remove illegal constructions with the help of development authorities through a concrete plan.

HT: How do you propose to tackle the problem of slums?

BS: Rehabilitating slum dwellers is the only way out.

HT: Do you think mayor has enough power to deal with the problems? What role do you propose for a mayor?

BS: Mayor has dual powers —one through the Constitution and the other derived from the people.

HT: What is your manifesto? What are the issues in the current elections?

BS: Pure drinking water and proper sewerage.

HT: How the LMC’s financial resources can be increased?

BS: Tax collection and public cooperation.

HT: How will you fulfill your promises from the available LMC resources?

BS: I will work to gain people’s faith.
