The road outside Signature Tower in Southcity, Gurgaon, was flooded on Sunday.
No, it was not rain that caused the mess.
A water supply pipeline had leaked and flooded the area just off the Expressway where offices of a number of multinational companies are located.
Thousands of gallons of drinking water were wasted as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) pipeline was leaking since Saturday evening.
By Sunday morning, there was knee-deep water on the roads and trees on the green belt were also partially under water.
Had this been a working day, office-goers would have had to negotiate the flooded area to reach their offices.
According to the local residents, the pipeline supplies water to Southcity and Sushant Lok. It reportedly had leaked last year as well at the same place.
The water supply in these townships has also been affected as the water pressure has gone down.
HUDA officials said repair work had begun.
Normal water supply to Southcity and Sushant Lok is likely to be restored by Monday morning.
