HOSTS WEST Central Railway (WCR) registered a 3-0 victory over Western Railway on the opening day today of the All-India Inter-Unit Railway Protection Force (RPF) Volleyball Tournament that began at Railway Colony Ground, Habibganj.

The hosts dominated in every part of the game. With excellent service and good coordination, they won the first set 25-05. However, they had to sweat in the second set, as Western Railway fought back. But the luck favoured the hosts and they won the second set 25-23. WCR found no problem in winning the third set 25-14.

In all, 14 teams from across the country are participating in the tournament. DRM Ashok Kumar Agrawal inaugurated the tournament. On the occasion, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager G S Awasthi and others were present.

Football tourney
THE SPORTS Authority of BHEL in association with BHEL Sports Club will organise the all-India BHEL inter-unit football tournament at Piplani ground from October 10. According to a BHEL press release, last year’s winners Bhopal and other units of the BHEL will participate in the tournament. The final will be played on October 12.
