Australia might be miles ahead of India in hockey, but its head coach, Ric Charlesworth's comments at the launch of the Lanco International Super Series nine-a-side hockey tournament -beginning at Perth from Oct 20 - could motivate the Indians to up their game.
"We learnt most of our hockey from what we saw in the sub-continent," Charlesworth said via videoconference on Tuesday. The hockey expert, who is the brain behind the new format, also acknowledged that Australians love the way India and Pakistan play their game.
"The players in the sub-continent are very skilful. It will be an excellent platform for both teams to show their mettle."
The men's tournament will feature Australia, India, Pakistan and New Zealand.
