Ahead of the World Cup, Indian cricket team captain M S Dhoni and his wife Sakshi arrived in Jammu on Sunday to pay obeisance at the revered Hindu shrine of Vaishno Devi but could not make it there as their chopper could not land owing to "bad weather conditions".
With the World Cup commencing Feb 19, the couple, accompanied by fellow cricketer Suresh Raina, came to Jammu in a commercial flight.
"Due to bad weather, the chopper could not land at the shrine and the trio had to return," official sources said.
They might again attempt to reach the shrine before flying back to Delhi, the sources said.
The shrine is nestled in the Trikuta hills of Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas at the height of 5,200 feet, about 55 km from Jammu. It attracts millions of pilgrims each year.
