india Updated: Mar 08, 2010 23:08 IST

A clinical performance from West Zone sent Central Zone packing and set up the final of the Deodhar Trophy nicely. West, who registered a 216-run win in their semifinal, play North on Tuesday.

West, after being put in to bat, raced away to 335, powered by Ajinkya Rahane (76) and Cheteshwar Pujara (86). West's allrounders provided the perfect impetus with Yusuf Pathan smashing 59 off only 22 balls and Ravindra Jadeja chipping in with 42 off 18 balls.

Central Zone needed a strong start if they were to have any chance of overhauling the target, and this did not happen. West's bowlers struck relentlessly, reducing Central to 60 for 5. Harpreet Singh topscored with 35, as Jadeja picked up an amazing 4 for 8 from 4.4 overs and Central imploded to 119 all out inside 30 overs.

Brief scores:

West Zone 335 for 8 (Rahane 76, Pujara 86, Pathan 59, Pankaj 4 for 38) beat Central Zone 119 (Jadeja 4-8) by 216 runs
