What delays Jeeva?s trial in UP?

WHAT EXACTLY is the reason behind the procrastination in bringing gangster Sanjiv Maheshwari alias Jeeva to UP from Delhi? Is the legal process delaying it or is there a directive from the bigwigs that makes the cops unconcerned in this direction?

WHAT EXACTLY is the reason behind the procrastination in bringing gangster Sanjiv Maheshwari alias Jeeva to UP from Delhi? Is the legal process delaying it or is there a directive from the bigwigs that makes the cops unconcerned in this direction?

SSP Muzaffarnagar, Amrendra Singh Sengar and SP Ghazipur NK Srivastava, gave discreet explanations when inquired about bringing Maheshwari for the trial in the cases pending in their districts.  Though the STF sleuths were searching for him, Maheshwari managed his arrest by the special cell of Delhi police on May 14. The cops showed him carrying illegal firearm as there was no case pending against him in Delhi.

Maheshwari was on the run ever since he executed the sensational shootout in Ghazipur district, killing BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai and seven others. The STF team was hunting for him since then. Besides, a reward of Rs 20,000 was announced on him for a murder in Muzaffarnagar.

When inquired about bringing Maheshwari for legal proceedings in the case pending against him, SSP Muzaffarnagar Sengar replied that they had applied for warrant-B in the Delhi court. He said they had requested to bring Maheshwari to frame charges against him in the court here. Sengar also claimed that a police team had already interrogated Maheshwari in Delhi police custody.

What raised doubts on the efforts of the Muzaffarnagar police was a statement made by Sengar. He said that though they had pleaded for warrant- B, it was now up to the Delhi court to hand over Maheshwari. He also claimed that Maheshwari could also refuse shifting to Muzaffarnagar on grounds of security threat. Moreover, Sengar said, it could take more than six months in getting permission to bring Maheshwari here. He said that until the trial in the Delhi case was over, the court would not allow the gangster to go to Muzaffarnagar.

On the other hand, SP Ghazipur NK Srivastava said the investigating officer (IO) in the shootout case was framing charges against Maheshwari in the case diary (CD) after the outlaw confessed his involvement in the shootout here. The moment the CD was completed, the IO would apply for warrant-B to bring Maheshwari here.

Srivastava further said that there would be no legal hassles in bringing Maheshwari here as the latter could only challenge the police application on grounds of security threat. But he would be brought here after ensuring his security arrangement.
