What Rampal will lose if he wins

india Updated: Oct 08, 2006 15:55 IST

IF THE BJP nominee for Vidisha Lok Sabha seat Rampal Singh wins the by-election and enters the House, it would be the second time that he would not be able to complete his term in the State Assembly.

When Rampal Singh was elected to the Assembly the first time in 1990, he could not complete his term as the Sunderlal Patwa Government was dismissed in the wake of Babri structure demolition. He was elected to the Assembly consecutively in 1993, 1998 and 2003.

Currently representing Udaipura Assembly constituency, Rampal started his career through students’ politics from Raisen district. Born in January 1956, his hometown is Udaipura (Raisen). He is well known as the friend of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who promoted him from the Minister of State rank to Cabinet Minister rank when he assumed the office of CM.
