Where's morality in politics?

india Updated: Jun 30, 2006 16:58 IST

Government has done nothing to curb prices of essential commodities. Why blame BJP alone as a party supportive of “bania” community? Congress is equally guilty of aligning itself with the traders in order to enable latter to fleece the "aam aadmi" whose cause it is surprisingly claiming to espouse; there is no escape for any political party to seek funds from businessmen, which, in turn, forces them, quite often, to serve latter's interests by letting them make money by questionable means.

After all, in the special context of the functioning of democracy in India, there hardly exist any norms of morality for political parties to follow if they are to remain in power. So, it will be foolhardy of anyone to expect that the government will try to bring down the prices of essential commodities immediately.
