Who'll walk the aisle next?

After the Ash-Abhi gala, Shaikh Ayaz predicts which couple is set for Bollywood's next big fat wedding.

They have the 'it' factor. They are burning up Cupid’s meter. They are in the public eye. But will they work? Without much ado about the A-list couple that just made it, Shaikh Ayaz picks out four of his favourites in the wings and rates them on an HT index

Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif
Bold brash meets quietly dazzling. Bandra boy meets London lisp. He is the quintessential bad boy, reportedly with a golden heart. She is the classic bimbette with an NRI air. He is a box-office bonanza who can still sell a film on his own strength. She is just about finding a footing in Hindi movies (with just a little help from her ‘friend’). He’s a veteran of broken relationships — Somy Ali, Sangeeta Bijlani and Aishwarya Rai. She is too young to have a history Classic pairing? Yes, considering that both roll out a San Fran-meets-London accent. But after his series of violent heartbreaks, even his own family thinks that Salman should settle down. But is she the one?

John Abraham-Bipasha Basu
He is the well-mannered vegetarian dude. She is the fish-eating smoky siren who spits fire. He is a dog person, she is a cat person, even though she has taken to Posto, the Chihuahua he gifted her. But then, they say opposites attract, don’t they?

She was a hot star (Jism) when he was a struggler, but they shared great on-screen chemistry, though they never had a hit together after Jism. She leaned to him on a rebound with Dino Morea, but their relationship survived the odds – some of which went by the name of Mallika Sherawat, Vidya Balan or even Ajay Devgan (for her, of course).

But they’ve managed to be together for seven years, with momentary smidgeons of dirt flung on their perfect couple picture. They even do endorsements together now, so guess they are a package deal.

Kareena Kapoor-Shahid Kapur
Kapoor meets Kapur and they get into a controversial lip-lock and all hell breaks loose. Except, they are undeterred and hold their own. Bratty, temperamental and hot-headed Kareena turns mellow, coy and gentle with Shahid’s blissful aura around her. It’s a classic taming of the shrew. Except that she is so tame now, one misses her spunk.

They are totally into each other— she has even turned vegetarian and goes back-packing to Europe with him. Commercially, of course, they still have to get undo the duds they were part of together.

Irrespective of her famous lineage, she is still twice the star he is, even though she is on a lying low phase currently In the meantime, following . in the lines of Thompson and Thomson, Spy vs Spy, perhaps they could star in an espionage film titled Kapoor vs Kapur, ala Mr and Mrs Smith?

But hats off to them for being perhaps the only couple to be out there with their relationship.

Preity Zinta -Ness Wadia
T his combination packs a powerful punch. Success and glamour meets lineage and public school pedigree. It’s a classic coupling with all the trappings of fame, beauty wealth and power. As long as , one doesn’t encroach on the other’s territory and as long as she is able to dilute her , filmi tag and blend into his high-brow-lowprofile family, we think, this could be one of those sensible unions Jane Austen has always prescribed.
