A 34-year-old woman and her 36-year-old lover were arrested for allegedly abducting the woman’s husband for more than 12 days. The “lovers” had even threatened to kill him for opposing the extra-marital affair, police said.

Sanjay Valmiki (36) went missing from Modi Nagar in Ghaziabad on May 18. His wife, Rekha Valmiki, lodged a missing complaint.

Several days later, the woman and her alleged lover Soni Valmiki told the police Sanjay had been killed.

“During investigations, we came to know the woman was in an extra-marital relationship with Soni and had planned the abduction of her husband with the help of two contract-killers for Rs 1.4 lakh,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said.

After the abduction, the “lovers” took the victim to Mehmadpur jungles near Baghpat in Western UP and kept him in captivity for 12 days, police said.

"Rekha and Soni returned to Modi Nagar and lodged a missing complaint. But their plot and their relations were revealed during the investigations and the two were arrested on Monday,” SSP said.
