Pakistani Singer Adnan Sami, his father Arshad Sami Khan and mother Naureen Sami Khan on Thursday filed an application in the sessions court seeking anticipatory bail.
Sami’s wife, Sabah, had filed a complaint on Tuesday in the Oshiwara police station alleging cruelty.
In the application, Sami has said that the police was under pressure from Sabah and Consulate of United Arab Emirates and registered the complaint ‘in absence of any material and without any application of mind and in predetermined manner’.
The complaint filed by Sabah is an afterthought to target Sami and his parents, the application said.
It also says that Sabah is seeking to ‘abuse the process of the court and the provisions of law’ and has lodged a false and frivolous complaint with a view to vex and harass Sami.
Sami has also said that the allegations are ‘a concocted story’ and is a result of deliberation and consultation. Sabah is filing false complaint because Sami had confronted her with a CD allegedly containing her obscene footage, the application said.
The court is likely to hear the application on Friday.
Earlier, the court had directed the police to serve notice to Sami 72 hours before his arrest, to enable him to file anticipatory bail application.
Sami, in a reply to family court said that he did not want to stoop as low as his wife had. He claims that even could place before the court the relevant material to show the past of Galadari (Sabah’s) family as ‘smugglers in UAE’.
The reply also says that the fact is known in Dubai and other countries including India, as smuggling of gold and silver was done through India.
