Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday said she was open to campaigning beyond her family's pocket boroughs Amethi and Rae Bareli if it helped her brother Rahul Gandhi and if he so desired.
“I have not decided yet. So far, I am here for a meeting in Rae Bareli. My brother and I will speak to each other and decide,” said the daughter of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, who is on a three-day tour of the Lok Sabha constituencies.
In a brief interaction with journalists, Vadra said, “I am ready to extend any help to my brother”.
At a meeting with local party leaders, Vadra asked them to ensure victory in all the 10 seats of Rae Bareli and Amethi.
Earlier, on her way from Amethi, about 100 women workers of Sheena Home Tex blocked her way. It took 15 minutes for Vadra to pacify the angry group.
She later told reporters that the factory the women worked for had been shut for nearly two years and they had not been paid for months. Though she could not make any promise, she said efforts were on to get a new investor.
Vadra also stopped at the house of party’s Gauriganj in-charge, Mata Prasad Vaish, to pay condolences at the death of his son.
