Has she finally grown out of the family pocket boroughs and is ready to take on the world outside? Her growing resemblance to grandma Indira Gandhi somewhat confirms the idea.

It’s in hard work too that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has trained herself to match her redoubtable grandma.

For instance, after arriving here on Tuesday, she worked for about 14 hours in Amethi to strategise her brother, Rahul’s campaign before leaving for Rae Bareli and working till the wee hours to devise the agenda for mother Sonia Gandhi’s constituency.

And amid all this, she responded to media queries and commented on national politics, which she generally always avoided. But what even her close followers may not have noticed is that Priyanka has quietly escalated her politics and rhetoric beyond UP.

Ram Sevak, one of her admirers in Rae Bareli, said, “We defeated Indira Gandhi in 1977 elections... We do not want to repeat the same mistake. We’ll ensure Sonia Gandhi’s victory.” It seems the ground is ready for her.
