Confident of a good show in the Uttar Pradesh elections, the Congress on Monday said that the party would "reap the benefits" of general secretary Rahul Gandhi's hard work in the state.
"First of all I don't think we are going to be in an embarrassing situation at all. We will reap the benefits of Rahul Gandhi's hard work," said Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury.
Replying to a question if Gandhi will be held accountable for the party's poor performance in the Uttar Pradesh elections, Chowdhury said: "Rahul Gandhi should not be held responsible for it."
She said the party has no doubt that it will improve its tally in the state.
The votes cast in the seven-phased assembly elections will be counted Tuesday.
