Backing BJP’s demand to retrieve black money stashed away in foreign banks if the NDA was voted to power, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa today said her party too would take steps to seize it and bring it back.

Alleging that rs 75 lakh crore Indian black money had been stashed away in foreign banks, Jayalalithaa told an election meeting here that “I will take steps to seize black money and bring it to our country” (if her party and allies formed the government at the Centre), without mentioning BJP’s demand.

AIADMK is contesting in alliance with left parties and PMK and MDMK.

Hitting out at Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, she accused him of having betrayed the state’s rights on river disputes or getting adequate power from the central pool for “selfish” reasons, and assured the gathering that she would protect the state’s rights and interests on disputes like the Cauvery, Periyar and Palar.

She said she had carried out her assurances whether it was hunting down of forest brigand Veerappan or execution of Veeranam Water project for Chennai when she was in power.

On Kachatheevu, an islet ceded to Sri Lanka in 1974, she charged that Karunanidhi had failed to prevent it from being handed over. She said she had filed a suit in the Supreme court questioning the agreement.
