‘Will take time to reverse years of official neglect’

You made tall promises during your election campaign. Many residents feel discontent.

In the past one year, I have worked towards finding solutions to a whole lot of issues, concerning not only my ward but also those concerning the entire city. But I will need more time to reverse damage done by years of neglect by the civic authorities. There are limitations to implementing solutions too.

What are these limitations?

My area falls under the jurisdictions of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon, the Haryana Urban Development Authority and private developers. The multiple centres of authority make it easier for them to pass the buck.

Some of your plans such as the drive against liquor vends and road numbering system have not yet yielded any results.

We are fighting the liquor vend case in court. As for the the road numbering system, our first proposal was found to be unsuitable for a city like Gurgaon, where the existing roads are not planned as a grid. But we are talking to experts to work out an alternative and get a feasible plan together.
