Hollywood actress Winona Ryder has beaten competition from Uma Thurman and Kate Beckinsale winning a role in the latest Ron Howard movie.
The Heathers star is set to launch a comeback by playing funnyman Kevin James' adulterous wife in the untitled comedy, which will also star Vince Vaughn, Entertainment Weekly online reported.
The 38-year-old actress was said to have been offered the part after impressing producers with two auditions, outshining fellow actresses Carla Gugino, Beckinsale and Thurman.
Ryder has not appeared on the big screen since a small role playing Spock's mother in Star Trek last year.
Filming is due to begin in Chicago, Illinois in May this year.
