Mahesh Bhatt is getting ready to launch the much-talked about film Woh Lamhe, an autobiographical account of his intimate relationship with late actress Parveen Babi.
Last year, when Parveen died, he was among the few Bollywood personalities who attended her funeral. That was the moment for him to reminiscence the cherished days spent with this stunning beauty. And he decided to tell it to the world by bringing her alive on the celluloid.
"I was standing outside a morgue, where the body of Parveen Babi was laying unclaimed. I was flooded with memories of the perfumed days and champagne nights spent with this gorgeous girl. It was there on that tragic moment that the idea to chronicle the tragedy of this glamour queen took into me", says Mahesh Bhatt
He further said, "Good ideas, particularly movie ideas, have a lot in common with great melody. They have emotional clarity and inevitability. Like a good tune that keeps playing in your mind long after you have stopped listening to it, a great idea keeps nagging at you. It just doesn't go. This is what happened with this idea and Woh Lamhe was born."
"The story of Parveen's descent into madness, her sudden disappearance from Bollywood, and the final burnout, is the main plot of this film. But as the story unfolds you will realise that Woh Lamhe in essence is a love story. It will inspire those who have loved and lost," said the director.
Kangna Ranaut, who plays Babi, and Shiny Ahuja who plays Bhatt, have proved their mettle in the Bhatt's last production, Gangster.
Why is Emraan Hashmi missing in this project? Bhatt says, "I don't pressurise my children. He didn't had the time and I would say he didn't have the vision, the wisdom to think that this movie will be one of our best."
