A young woman passenger travelling in a virtually empty flight has complained that she was at the receiving at the hands of a flight attendant last week. The fresh graduate, who did not wish to be named, told HT, that a purser aboard the Saudi Arabian Airlines flight SV 740 she took from Jeddah to Mumbai had molested her on April 3.

The woman said she had sent a written complaint to the airlines, a copy of which Hindustan Times has. “The incident rattled her so much that she could not eat a morsel that day,” said Felvin M, a family friend.

A man who identified himself as the head of Saudi Arabian Airlines’ customer relations department told HT that he would check whether the airlines had received the complaint and whether the incident took place, but did not get call us back until till the time of going to press.

The woman said she had asked the purser for a blanket. “While handing it to me, he started running his hands on my shoulder,” she said. “I protested, but he did not stop.”

She said she then shouted for help and a couple of air hostesses came to her rescue.

But after landing in Mumbai, she approached the airport’s terminal manager determined to report the incident.

“I told the manager to put me in touch with the airline’s station manager, but she refused to do so,” the woman claimed.

“She spoke to the terminal manager, but her allegation that we did not offer help is not true,” said the spokesman for the Mumbai International Airport Limited.
