The death toll due to Swine flu rose to eight in Madhya Pradesh with the death of a woman in Chhindwara, officials said on Monday.
Zulekha Bi (56) of Badkui town in Chhindwara district died due to swine flu on January 2 in Nagpur's Orange City Hospital where she was referred for treatment, Badkui Hospital Chief Medical Officer (CMO), MP Gupta said.
Zulekha was admitted to the Badkui Hospital on December 24 as she was suffering from cough and cold but her health deteriorated on December 30 and she was referred to the Orange City Hospital in Nagpur, he said.
The CMO said that she was tested positive for H1N1 virus.
Two more suspected patients of Swine flu patients were admitted to the hospital and their swab samples have been sent to Nagpur for tests, Gupta said.
With Zulekha's death, the toll has risen to eight due to Swine flu in the state, he said.
