Amarnath Yatra is facing a new row. Two teenage boys were arrested recently after a woman yatri alleged they filmed her on a cellphone while she was having a bath at a camp at Baltal.
The boys were employees of a langar at the camp, organised by the Amarnath Shrine Board Trust. Their cellphones have been sent for forensic test. The langar was being run by people from Jalandhar.
The 35-year-old woman, also from Jalandhar, had arrived at the langar on July 11 and decided to stay the night.
"We had requested for hot water for a bath," the woman told HT. "While having my bath in the makeshift toilet, I noticed two holes in the tin sheets and saw someone filming me."
After their arrest the same day, the boys reportedly confessed to filming women for nearly a month, she added.
The police, however, are yet to confirm this.
"We have not been able to retrieve the clip," said Shahid Mehraj, superintendent of police at Ganderbal. "Apparently, the boys have not managed to shoot anything. But still, we have sent their cellphones for forensic test." The boys were released on bail on July 17.
Nine more pilgrims, meanwhile, died en route to the shrine in the last 24 hours, taking this year's toll to 97.
