A 24-year-old woman was today found dead in the ashram of two-time former MP and a regional party chief, Sachidanand Harishakshi aka Shakshi Maharahj, a senior police officer said here.

The woman, identified as Laxmi, who was a teacher at a local school, was found dead in the ashram located at Shyam Nagar locality.

The body bore multiple injury marks suggesting that the woman had been brutally killed, Deputy Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar said.

The body was first spotted by some kids this morning.

Though motive behind the murder was not clear, Kumar said that the caretaker of the ashram was missing and efforts were being made to trace him.

Shakshi Maharaj, who made his political debut from BJP, switched his loyalty to SP, before joining the Rashtriya Kranti Party led by Kalyan Singh.

After Kalyan Singh went back into BJP fold, Shakshi Maharaj is heading the RKP.

The two-time MP had announced to contest the Lok Sabha election from Farukkhabad.
