She jumped from the food-court area, the police said.

“She sustained critical head-injuries and was later declared dead at Meenakshi Hospital in Kaushambi,” SP (City) Rahul Yadvendu said.

According to police officials, the mall staff had cleaned away the bloodstain before they could arrive to investigate.

“This is a negligence on their part,” SP (City) said.

“We could not get proper clues. We are investigating to find out who had ordered the clean-up and will take appropriate action.”

Although there is a presence of guards on every floor, Security Officer Surjeet Singh and Security Supervisor Arvind Yadav were not able to comment on how the incident happened inside the complex and who had ordered the clean-up.
