Five people including two policemen have been arrested after two women alleged that aides of a BSP MLA tried to rape them near Vehalna Chowk on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in the district, police said on Thursday.

The two women were returning to Delhi from Mussoorie along with their two male friends on Tuesday evening when they stopped at a petrol pump to get their vehicle repaired where a group of seven-eight youths abducted them in a car, according to the complainants.

The youths took them to a nearby house and tried to rape them at gun point but the women managed to escape, police said.

The complainants have claimed that the youths were in a car bearing a VIP number plate and are related to a BSP MLA, they added.

The five people who have been arrested include two policemen identified as Narendra Kumar and Jarar Ahmad and three others Mushroof, Ragib and Dilshad, SSP Praveen Kumar said.

A hunt is on to nab the other youths Junaid, Irshad and Javaid, he said.
