Women make the first move too!

Should I, or should I not ask her out? What will she think - what if she says 'no' or worse, gives me the cold shoulder?

One would picture our typical love-struck friend waging (a losing battle) with those frayed nerves. And while our man suffers sleepless nights or practises a soulful tune, you would imagine his sweetheart tearing petals and waiting for the moment.

Knock, knock. Quit the day-dreaming. Those days are gone. The lassie has moved on. Today, women make the first move in a relationship. Being true Marketing guy Arjun Vohra's (27) fiancee Sneha took the initiative of setting up a date. Says Vohra, "It was her broad-minded nature and frankness in admitting her feelings that got me interested initially."

For Sneha it was question of being true to herself. "I liked him from the very start, and I knew that if I wanted to be with him I would have to ask him first," she says.

Guys love the chase. According to financial accountant Deepak Saluja (28), "Women enjoy being chased, but men don't mind it either. In fact, it's quite an ego booster for a guy to be asked out by a girl." Banker Samir Khanna (31) concurs, "If a girl decides to propose, it only makes the guy feel better and more responsible." Old is gold However, there are still some who would rather wait. "By asking a guy out, you may be sending out wrong signals. Chances are the girl will be labelled `loose' and become the butt of jokes," says student Geetika Sharma. "The guy may start taking you for granted." Student Mayur Wadhwa (19) feels it is pointless for a girl to ask a man out. "It is expected that you will never say no to a girl. You will then be forced to comply." Final verdict What is wrong with a girl expressing her feelings? After all, one relationship varies from another. It also has a lot to do with the maturity levels of the couple in question. Besides, buddy, all is fair in love....

When to say and how
You do not need to be drunk to gain courage. It only messes things up.
Timing is everything.
Do not ask someone out when they are with a group of friends.
Keep things light and happy.
Be confident.
Do not push someone who is not ready.
