The idea of going under the knife seems to have become quite popular among affluent women who are over the age of 50.
A recent survey has revealed that women with a wave of wealth have become more open to the idea of a little surgical maintenance to eradicate eye bags and smooth over laughter lines.
The poll conducted over 7,000 people by Saga, a lifestyle firm whose Saga Zone social networking website has been designed for the over-50s revealed that a quarter of women over 50 would have plastic surgery in an effort to cling on to their youthful glamour, reports the Telegraph
The poll also revealed that 15 per cent of the women consider having or had had an eyelift while 12 per cent considered a face-lift and 11 per cent would have a tummy tuck.
Although four out of 10 saw no harm in people willing to improve their look and a vast majority, around 92 per cent said it was pointless trying to keep up with the younger generation.
Emma Soames, the editor of Saga Magazine, also said that cosmetic surgery had become one of the most popular topics of discussion on Saga Zone's health pages.
"Cosmetic surgery is not such the taboo it might once have been, and for the over 50s, it is certainly an option," the Telegraph quoted her, as saying.
Surgeons also said that women as old as 82 are opting for a nip and tuck, although few over-50s would have opted for breast enlargements.
