india Updated: Jul 23, 2006 17:08 IST

SENIOR BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today underlined the role of women in the present political scenario. She was addressing the State BJP Mahila Morcha office-bearers at their training camp organised at Mandu in Dhar district today. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the State BJP organising general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki could not attend the programme to address the participants.

Sushma Swaraj said men and women both possessed similar leadership capability. However, at the initial stage women had to face some difficulties. But they ultimately proved good leaders, she added.

The BJP training cell national in-charge Vinay Sahastrabudhe apprised the participants of the elements of media management.  He said media and politics complemented each other, for both had their objective in social development.

The State BJP Mahila Morcha president Anju Makheeja in her presidential speech said any organisation foundation of which was based on high principles and ideals was able to establish itself in society.

The State secretary Krishna Gaur conducted the programme. Others who addressed the participants included Mahila Morcha State in-charge Mohini Garg, State BJP vice-president Maya Singh and training cell State in-charge Ajay Pratap Singh. The state BJP executive member Umashashi Sharma proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme was followed by a tree plantation programme with Sushma Swaraj leading the workers.
