The All India Mahila Congress is trying to reach a consensus on tabling of the women's reservation bill in the monsoon session of Parliament.
"We are trying to reach a consensus among all political parties on the issue and we hope it should be tabled in the current session of Parliament for which we have already spoken to Congress President Sonia Gandhi," AIMC president Rita Bahuguna told reporters in Jalandhar on Sunday.
Bahuguna who was in Jalandhar to address the state-level convention of Punjab Mahila Congress said that efforts were on to strengthen the mahila Congress in the country and Punjab's convention was part of the efforts.
She said there were some problems in the Punjab Mahila Congress but it would be tackled soon.
On the rumours that state minister would be relieved from the post of State mahila Congress, Bahuguna sought to put such rumours to rest by saying that it has been decided that Gurkanwal Kaur would continue on her post in Mahila Congress.
Major Ved Prakash, secretary of All India Congress Committee and incharge of AIMC said that women would play a leading role in the campaign in the Punjab Assembly election.
