Gurgaon may boast of being a Millennium City but it is certainly not safe for women.

Though the city is a commercial hub and has world-class offices of multi-national corporations, the women staff, who comprise a major workforce, feel rather unsafe outside the confines of their homes and offices in Gurgaon.

Increasing rape cases forced the police to issue guidelines to call centres and BPOs in the city to ensure proper pick-and-drop services for women employees.

Women safety has been a prime concern for the Gurgaon police.

Meanwhile, recent cases of abduction and assault by the notorious cabbie gang that offers lifts to pedestrians have also unleashed a wave of terror in the city. More than five such incidents were reported in a span of few months and most victims had hitched a ride from the Iffco Chowk Metro station.
