Addressing a rally in Srinagar, National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah said his party would never let Article 370 be abrogated.

Speaking on the occasion, Farooq said that NC would “not allow Narendra Modi and the BJP to touch Article 370, let alone think of its abrogation or dilution”.

“BJP’s intentions towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir are very clear now, as their manifesto has proven beyond any doubt that Modi can never be a friend of the state,” Farooq said.

Farooq said that the same people who played a role in the erosion of Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomy and facilitated the sabotage of democratically elected governments were now singing different tunes in different garbs.

“There can be no compromise on the state’s identity, despite the ink-pot brigade’s covert tactical understanding with the BJP on this matter,” he added.

The public meeting was organised by NC MLA from Batamaloo Irfan Ahmed Shah to campaign for Farooq as NC-Congress coalition candidate for Srinagar, and was also addressed by NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani.
